A Weekend of Masonic Excellence!

November 7-10, 2024

The Brethren of the Cayman Islands, lead by W. Bro. Christopher Bodden, AsstDistGM and his team, welcomed are large delegation of Grand and District Grand Officers, and Brethren from Jamaica, who were in turn lead by R.W. Bro. Thomas C. Smith, JP, DistGM. This to celebrate and participate in the Ceremonies of Installation for the Cayman Lodge Craft and RA Chapter.

The weekend began with a Thursday evening taste of Cayman at Ms. Piper’s. A relaxed evening of conversation and drinks. A few erstwhile Brethren began Friday morning with golf at Ritz Carlton which was followed by the Past Masters Lunch at the historic Grand Old House restaurant. Well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The Cayman Lodge No. 8153 Installation began promptly at 7:00pm and the now W. Bro. W. Derek Scott was Installed in due and ancient form. This by Installing Master, W. Bro. Daniel R. Tathum and the working team with distinction. R.W. Bro. Thomas Smith, DistGM rose to congratulate the Lodge on an enjoyable ceremony and spoke on the UGLE’s community involvement and outreach project which is expected to be an integral part of all Lodges under their banner.

The night was made complete by a wonderful Festive Board, with hearty Loyal Toasts and song. A wonderful celebration of Brotherhood.

Congratulations to the new made Master, W. Bro W. Derek Scott, Bro. Jamaal J. Anderson, SW, Bro.Julian D. Lewis, JW. and all members of the Lodge.

Saturday November 7, 11:00am:

Companions from across the District gathered in their numbers for the Installation Ceremony of the Cayman Royal Arch Chapter No. 8153. Resplendent in Regalia, 1st Principal, E. Comp. J.F. Hew, Installed his successor, now 1st Principal, E. Comp. Gregg V. Anderson in a sterling ceremony, having seen the Installation of E. Comp. David E. Pellow as 3rd Principal and E. Comp. Waide L. Dacosta as 2nd Principal, by their predecessors.

In his address to the companions, Most Excellent Grand Surintendant, Thomas C. Smith congratulated the new administration and wished for the Chapter a successful year in office. He emphasised the importance of leadership training, a critical portion of Royal Arch Freemasonry, to be taken seriously by all Companions.

The Festive Board that followed was an exceptional example of companionship and camaraderie!

The weekend of Masonic Brotherhood was celebrated with a banquet at Ristorante Pappagallo, beginning with a cocktail reception at 7:00 p.m. and followed by a three course meal, Chef-d’oeuvre!

Thoroughly enjoyed by all, the District wishes to thank W. Bro. Christopher Bodden, AssistDistGM and all the Brethren of Cayman Lodge No. 8153 for all that they have done to create what can only be called ‘A Weekend of Masonic Excellence’. A grateful thanks too, to all those who made the effort to travel in support of our Cayman Islands Brethren.
